There something mentally unstable with people who worship guns. But okay, I suppose everyone’s got a fetish. If guns are your thing, have it at. But don’t act surprised when someone uses your fetish to murder innocent people.
To be clear: the madman who took aim at Republicans on a baseball field was pure evil. Plain and simple. And if he hadn’t been killed, he deserved to die. (I’m not a knee-jerk bleeding heart against the death penalty. That said, any potential death penalty case should be clear cut with irrefutable, iron-clad evidence, such as with this madman in Alexandria. Innocent people have been put to death. See, contrary to radical right-wing popular belief, liberals are not monolithic. Link provided so you can look it up.)
Neither guns nor evil are going to disappear. But after what happened in Alexandria, instead of addressing the proliferation of guns and evil, our elected officials and the media are telling us to watch our tone. That both sides must be more mindful and careful about how we disagree.
Eric Trump is an entitled douchebag who has no idea he’s talking about himself.
Last night on Sean Calamity Shamity’s propaganda of lies show on the sly-as-a-fox “news” channel, he said Democrats in Washington are not even people. This is a blatant attempt to dehumanize and eventually make it easier to rationalize violence, or worse, extermination. We’ve been here before and we cannot allow corrosive hate like this to go unchallenged.
What he said is not only vile and disgusting, it is dangerous. It sends a signal to the brainwashed—or as I like to call them asswashed for having their heads so far up Sean Shamity’s rectum—and mind-controlled flock that violence against your adversary is justified, because after all, they aren’t human. His comment needs to be vehemently denounced by all decent human beings. Especially Republicans. Hello? Are there any decent ones still out there? Continue reading “The Dehumanization Begins”
Now, of course today has some important differences. The advance of technology, the impact of the internet, our fragmented media landscape, make it easier than ever to splinter ourselves into echo chambers. We can shut out contrary voices, avoid ever questioning our basic assumptions. Extreme views are given powerful microphones. Leaders willing to exploit fear and skepticism have tools at their disposal that were unimaginable when I graduated. Continue reading “Popular Vote Winner’s Commencement Speech”
The historic record is clear, the Robert E. Lee, Jefferson Davis, and P.G.T. Beauregard statues were not erected just to honor these men, but as part of the movement which became known as The Cult of the Lost Cause. This ‘cult’ had one goal – through monuments and through other means – to rewrite history to hide the truth, which is that the Confederacy was on the wrong side of humanity. First erected over 166 years after the founding of our city and 19 years after the end of the Civil War, the monuments that we took down were meant to rebrand the history of our city and the ideals of a defeated Confederacy. It is self-evident that these men did not fight for the United States of America, They fought against it. They may have been warriors, but in this cause they were not patriots. These statues are not just stone and metal. They are not just innocent remembrances of a benign history. These monuments purposefully celebrate a fictional, sanitized Confederacy; ignoring the death, ignoring the enslavement, and the terror that it actually stood for.
After the Civil War, these statues were a part of that terrorism as much as a burning cross on someone’s lawn; they were erected purposefully to send a strong message to all who walked in their shadows about who was still in charge in this city.
It’s a settled fact that Russia meddled in our general presidential election. All of our intelligence agencies agree it happened. But this question keeps coming to mind: did Russia also meddle in the Republican primary to help Trump become the nominee? And if they did, why isn’t the GOP outraged about the possibility of their primary being hacked and stolen?
I suspect some in the GOP knew about the meddling and turned a blind eye. As long as the meddling would help keep Hillary out of the White House, they were fine with it. Why else would McConnell take the risk of holding up Obama’s Supreme Court nominee? Which he did with more than a bit of confidence. Did he know the fix was in? But didn’t know that it would lead to a President Trump? Continue reading “Sowing the Seeds”
No fan of Trump or conspiracy theories, but could Comey’s firing be a grand plan of the GOP establishment to get rid of Trump and make Pence the president, thereby saving themselves from a midterm drubbing?
Feels like a setup. First they get Trump to fire Comey, wait for the outrage, then claim to have no choice but to appoint a special prosecutor, knowing the special prosecutor will eventually uncover criminality in regards to Russia. Then they’ll tell Trump he needs to resign because the writing is on the wall about impeachment. Pence will become POTUS and pardon everyone involved except for a few scapegoats and sacrificial lambs—perhaps Mike Flynn or Carter Page go to jail (on their way to becoming Fox or Sinclair superstars). Republicans will then spin this whole ordeal so they look like all-American heroes for cleansing the White House of Russian operatives and sympathizers.
This would be a masterful play by the GOP Washington elite establishment before the midterms. They can’t go at Trump head-on or they’d risk a revolt by his rabid supporters. But they need Trump to go or he will bring the party down in future elections.
Far-fetched? Probably. But Donald Trump did somehow become president so anything is possible. Let’s see how this all plays out.
This may be one of the darkest pieces I have written. Of course, in my eyes, it is a “feel good” piece! This is the kind of piece that friends would say to me, why Michele if you had not written this piece, I would tell you it was right up your alley! It has YOU written all over it!
And if you are even a little bit like me, you are waiting for the ball to drop on this, the most corrupt, corroded and craven administration in American history.
And waiting…and waiting…and waiting…and…zzzzzzzzz…
Meanwhile, we’ve got United Airlines videos to watch, and multiple Harry Styles sightings to entertain us. And I know this sounds like the absolute zenith of zero-hope-left-leaning but I am eagerly anticipating the number of passengers on United Airline flights who will deliberately provoke some kind of “mix-up” or altercation so that they too can grab their “aisle be seeing you” battered and bloodied news moment and milk it for every penny. In the muddled mess I now call my mental mindset, I run a constant dialogue with my inner IDiot.
Which one of the cravenous crustaceans now infesting the White House (and their Republican rah-rah rat faces) will go down first? Office pools, anyone? The names march through my head like a ticker tapeworm parade. The entire crew stand perched, a set of dominoes, just waiting for the first to go to topple the entire bottom-feeder barnacled bunch.
Has there EVER been a worst set of penal-code-to-come pricks in Washington? These schmucks and their shenanigans make Teapot Dome look like a garden party. (And it is painfully ironic that the Teapot Dome scandal shares a whimsical “imagery” with that sludgy slew of slime known as Tea Partiers. Out of the teapot into the tea party.) When a person projects, they tend to fervently accuse others of traits, flaws, and issues that are really about themselves. It is blame shifting. Trump and his propaganda machine (including feckless Republicans) have mastered this primitive defense mechanism and elevated it to a sickening art form.
Hillary is crooked = I am crooked.
She is corrupt = I am corrupt.
The Clintons are criminals = I am a criminal.
Rosie is a pig = I am a pig.
The election is rigged = I am rigging it.
Obama is sick = I am sick.
The media is the enemy of the people = I am the enemy the people.
Anything he labels or calls a disaster = I am a disaster.
Almost every time he opens his mouth to criticize someone else, he is actually talking about himself.
